Laser eye surgery - UPDATE

I'm home again from surgery. The whole operation took eight minutes total of operating room time, for both eyes combined! The worst part is when they pull your eye lids wide open and the operating light is burning in your retinas. The next step is when they put some suction device on your eye ball that will cut your cornea to make a so-called "flap". It all puts your eye under stress and since you can't fight it (you want the damn operation, right?) you have to suffer the stress, making its impact bigger. When the surgeon cuts your cornea (I assume) everything turns dark. That was scary! It felt light the light was seeping from your eyes, never to return. Thankfully, it does. :)

Oddest thing is that you can actually see the surgeon flips the flap over. Your vision instantly becomes totally blurred.

Than the laser does its work, for a cool 45 seconds. This is the part where you have to stay motionless, adding to the stress.

After the laser finished vaporizing your eye ball :) the surgeon puts back the flap and moves it around to get a good fit. Your vision is constantly coming in and out of focus for the 30 seconds he's rummaging with your cornea. :)

Than it's time for your other eye!

When all is done... all is done. I have to apply two different eye drops several times a day for the next week, and artificial tears as well for a month. But already I can see, though my vision is still rather blurred, that my distance viewing is markedly improved. Before I couldn't read a regular billboard or shop sign properly beyond a few meters. Now with my still blurred vision and tearful, irritated eyes I can read the same billboard or shop sign from a normal distance. Close up vision and close up reading are still crap but I assume that will get better in the next 24 hours.

I'm wearing sunglasses now. The light is simply too harsh for my eyes. I'll have to wear them for a next few days, I reckon. At last an excuse to do so at work. :)

I'm gonna take a rest now. The stress made me tired and my blurred vision isn't making it any less.
